Image Compressor
Shrink any image with a quality slider — or set an exact KB target (forms and uploads love "under 100 KB") and let the tool hit it for you.

Runs 100% in your browser — this image is never uploaded.
Quality vs size, roughly
| Quality | Looks like | Typical photo size |
|---|---|---|
| 85–95% | Indistinguishable from original | 40–70% of original |
| 70–85% | Identical at normal viewing | 20–40% |
| 50–70% | Fine for web & email | 10–20% |
| Under 40% | Visible artifacts | <10% |
Common questions
How do I compress an image to 100KB?
Choose Target size mode, type 100, and drop your image. The tool finds the best quality that lands at or under 100 KB — and if the image is too large to reach the target by quality alone, it scales the dimensions down just enough. Works for JPG, PNG, and WebP.
Does compressing reduce image quality?
JPEG and WebP compression discards detail your eye is least likely to notice — at 70–85% quality most photos look identical to the original at a fraction of the size. Heavy compression (under ~40%) shows visible artifacts. The preview lets you judge before downloading.
Is it safe to compress photos here?
Yes — your image never leaves your device. The compression runs in your own browser using its built-in encoder. Nothing is uploaded, stored, or seen by us, which you can verify by loading the page and switching off your internet: the tool still works.
Why did my PNG become a JPG?
PNG is lossless and resists size targets, so for photographs we re-encode to JPG, which is dramatically smaller. If you need transparency preserved, use the WebP converter — WebP supports transparency at small sizes.
